What Planada Is

Planada is an urban intelligence platform built by Nava Labs. It provides public data visualization for cities including Calgary and Brisbane, covering transit, development permits, community demographics, flood mapping, and zoning information. All data displayed comes from publicly available government sources.

What We Collect

Planada collects minimal data. Here is what we do and do not collect:

We do not collect:

• Personal names, emails, or contact information
• Account credentials (there are no user accounts)
• Location data from your device
• Cookies for tracking or advertising

We may process:

• IP addresses for rate limiting and abuse prevention (not stored long-term)
• PDF documents you upload for permit review (processed in memory only, never stored on our servers)
• Chat messages sent through the bylaw intelligence tool (processed by AI models, not stored by us)
• Map interactions and scan locations (processed in real-time, not stored)

Third-Party Services

Planada uses the following third-party services to function:

• Cloudflare for DNS, SSL, and DDoS protection. Cloudflare may collect standard web traffic logs.
• Google Maps Platform for street view imagery and place data. Subject to Google's privacy policy.
• MapTiler for map tile rendering. Subject to MapTiler's privacy policy.
• AI Models for intelligent bylaw chat and permit review. Your queries are processed by AI models alongside our own analysis tools. Standard provider usage policies apply.

PDF Uploads

When you use the permit review tool, your uploaded PDF is read into memory, processed by our AI-powered analysis pipeline, and then discarded. We do not save, store, or retain any uploaded files. The file exists only for the duration of the request.

Data Sources

All urban data displayed on Planada comes from publicly available government open data portals including Calgary Open Data, the Australian Bureau of Statistics, Brisbane City Council, Moreton Bay Regional Council, TransLink Queensland, and related public APIs. We do not collect or store personal data from these sources.

Canadian Privacy Law

Planada is operated from Calgary, Alberta, Canada. We comply with the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA). Since we do not collect personal information, most PIPEDA obligations do not apply. If this changes in the future, this policy will be updated accordingly.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy as Planada evolves. Any changes will be reflected on this page with an updated date.
